White Ink Holiday procedure

TECHNICAL BULLETIN

Important

  • White ink settles much faster than any other color of ink and it should be treated differently.

WHITE INK is NOT the Same!

REQUIRED PROCEDURE

Proper procedures must be followed daily on TruFire printers with WHITE INK OPTION. White ink settles much faster than any other color of ink and it should be treated differently. This is especially important during the holiday season when printers are often shut down for longer periods of time.

Daily White Procedure:

  • Make sure the manual valve is in the ON position allowing the white ink to flow from the upper reservoir to the lower reservoir. See below image A.

  • Make sure the bucket has enough white ink (850 level as a minimum) otherwise, the re-circulation will turn off. See below image B.

Run the RE-CIRCULATION on the white ink while starting up the printer in the morning. This needs to be done each workday. Run 10 to 15 minutes while wiping the print head(s) and cleaning the lamps and bottom of the head carriage. The white ink recirculates from the back main ink tank through the secondary ink tank through the print head and back to the back main ink tank.

When you enable the Recirculation System in the diagram above it is important to make sure the white reservoir icon/square flashes. If it does not flash this indicates a problem and you should call tech support.

Use the PRIME ALL feature wiping the print head nozzle plate with flush.

Print the “All Solids” test from the user interface to get any cross contamination out of the print heads and to run the white print heads.

Extended Shutdown Procedures/Options: Holidays! When shutting down the printer for (4) days or more it is important to follow the proper procedures to properly maintain the white ink system in your TruFire Printer. Please always refer to the “White Ink System Guide” in the DigiTech TruFire Manual for more detailed information:

Option 1: Go to the configure screen in the “Systems” page. Set the “White Recirc Interval” from 24 sec to 14,400 sec. (See illustration below). Close the “Configure” screen. Make sure the blue valve as shown in the illustration above is on. Select “Recirculation” on the user interface.

Note: Changing from 24 seconds to 14400 seconds on the interval will ensure that the recirculation comes on every 4 hours. When returning after the extended break, please put the normal number back to 24 seconds, which is needed to properly administer the daily white system procedures.

Option 2: Remove all the white ink from the main ink tank and drain the ink from the upper reservoir by priming the print heads. You must then purchase from DigiTech the “Ink Storage Fluid” and cycle this fluid through the white ink system which includes turning on and recirculating the ink until you have clear liquid going through the entire system. A manual check on the back when the recirculation comes on will help determine when enough of the white ink has been properly removed from the system. Please discuss with a DigiTech service technician about this procedure.
